Nigerian artists generated more than N60 billion in revenue from Spotify streams in 2025, according to the latest annual report released by Spotify on Monday.
The streaming platform revealed that earnings by Nigerian artists have surged significantly, recording a growth of over 140 percent within the last two years, a development that highlights the expanding global influence of Nigerian music.
The report further showed that about 58 percent of the royalties earned by Nigerian artists on Spotify in 2025 came from independent artists and labels, demonstrating the increasing strength of independent music production within the industry.
Spotify also disclosed that Nigerian artists recorded 30.3 billion streams and 1.6 billion listening hours during the year under review.
The growth of female representation in the industry was also evident, as local streams of Nigerian female artists increased by 55 percent within the same period.
Globally, Nigerian music continued to attract strong international audiences. According to the report, Nigerian artists were featured in nearly 320 million user-generated playlists worldwide, while more than 12 million playlists were created by listeners within Nigeria.
Overall, Spotify users created over 60 million playlists featuring Nigerian artists in 2025, underscoring the sustained popularity and global reach of the country’s music industry.
