The National Publicity Secretary of the Taminu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ini Ememobong, has declared that it would be unjust and inappropriate for the party to endorse Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Arise Television Morning Show on Thursday, Ememobong insisted that as a major opposition party, the PDP must maintain its independence and not align itself with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He argued that endorsing President Tinubu would undermine the party’s role as a credible opposition force in Nigeria’s democratic system.

“It is improper, immoral, unjust and unfair for an opposition party of the standing of the PDP to endorse the presidency or candidacy of President Bola Tinubu,” he stated.

Ememobong, however, expressed optimism about the party’s ongoing reconciliation process, noting that it should strengthen the PDP’s position rather than weaken it.

According to him, the Turaki-led faction would push for a reconciliation outcome that reinforces the party’s role as a viable alternative to the ruling party, rather than reducing it to a political extension.

He added that he hopes reason would prevail over emotions as party leaders work towards unity ahead of the 2027 elections.
