Uba Sani, the Governor of Kaduna State, has inaugurated a high-level consensus committee on party harmonisation and aspirants’ engagement aimed at strengthening internal democracy and preserving unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of forthcoming elections.

The state Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the committee was established to deepen mediation and constructive engagement among political aspirants across the state, while promoting cohesion, mutual understanding and political stability within the ruling party.

Maiyaki said the committee would engage aspirants, party leaders and other stakeholders in constituencies where competing interests exist, with the aim of resolving disputes amicably and sustaining peace among party members.

“The Committee will encourage voluntary withdrawals where necessary, in the broader interest of party harmony and electoral success,” the statement added.

The government said the move reflected Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to inclusive leadership, party cohesion and consensus-building within the APC.

The committee is chaired by the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Hadiza Balarabe, while the APC State Secretary, Arch. Abubakar Rabiu, will serve as secretary.

Other members include the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Yusuf Liman; Kaduna APC Chairman, Mr. Atiku Sankey; Secretary to the State Government, Dr. AbdulKadir Muazu Meyere; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Sani Kila; Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General, Dr. James Kanyip; Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki; and Deputy Chief of Staff, Legal Services, Dr. Mustapha Musa.
