Fresh tension has emerged within the Lagos APC after the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, threatened to lead a protest over alleged irregularities during the party’s recent primaries. The growing dispute has raised concerns about party unity ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking during a meeting with market leaders in Ikeja, Tinubu-Ojo claimed that the APC primaries favoured members of the Justice Forum faction. She questioned the credibility of results announced in constituencies such as Mushin II, Agege II, and Ojokoro, insisting that several aspirants were unfairly treated during the process.
The Lagos APC, under the leadership of Cornelius Ojelabi, had earlier unveiled its list of candidates for the House of Representatives and State Assembly elections. The party confirmed 24 House of Representatives nominees and 40 Assembly candidates for the 2027 polls. The list included notable names such as Mojisola Meranda and other candidates across the state.
Despite the announcement, Tinubu-Ojo maintained that aspirants including Seye Oladejo, Mutiu Olaide Oladeebo, and Olotu Ojo won their respective contests and deserved recognition. She urged the party leadership to urgently review the exercise to prevent a deeper APC crisis.
“We are ready to protest… their mandate should not be given to somebody else,” she said.
She also warned that the rivalry between the Justice Forum and Mandate Group could damage APC unity before the next general election. According to her, fairness and inclusion remain vital for party stability. Tinubu-Ojo added that market women continue to play a major role in Lagos politics and should receive greater recognition in governance.
Could this growing disagreement affect APC’s strength ahead of the 2027 elections?
