Atiku Abubakar responds to Wike’s 10% vote claim by insisting that voters in Rivers State are capable of making their own political choices ahead of the 2027 general election.

The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) dismissed comments made by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who recently predicted that Atiku would fail to secure up to 10% of votes in Rivers State during the next presidential election.

In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku argued that no politician has the power to determine how an entire state will vote.

He said Rivers residents are intelligent and independent-minded citizens who will assess candidates based on the realities affecting their lives.

Furthermore, Atiku described Wike’s remarks as a sign of growing concern within the camp of President Bola Tinubu over the emergence of a strong opposition coalition under the ADC.

According to him, Nigerians are currently more concerned about rising living costs, insecurity and economic hardship than political predictions.

Atiku Abubakar responds to Wike’s 10% vote claim as political parties continue preparations for the 2027 elections.

The former vice president also criticised what he called constant political campaigning instead of governance. He argued that Rivers voters should not be treated as political assets controlled by any individual.

He stressed that citizens would make decisions based on their expectations for the future and the challenges facing the country.

Meanwhile, the exchange highlights the growing political rivalry ahead of the 2027 presidential contest, with both camps seeking to strengthen support across key states.

As political activities intensify, Atiku Abubakar responds to Wike’s 10% vote claim by maintaining that the final decision rests with the electorate and not political power brokers.
