US condemns Plateau cleric family killings as Washington demands swift justice after gunmen killed members of the family of Plateau cleric Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo. The United States described the attack as horrific and urged Nigerian authorities to hold those responsible accountable while stepping up efforts to protect vulnerable communities.
In a statement, the US Bureau of African Affairs said the continued violence against Christian communities and other vulnerable groups in Nigeria’s Middle Belt remains deeply alarming. It also extended condolences to the bereaved families and everyone affected by the attack.
Furthermore, the agency stressed that stronger action is needed to prevent similar attacks. It recalled recent discussions with Nigerian officials and said more must be done to stop violent incidents before they happen.

The United States also called on authorities to investigate the killings thoroughly and bring the perpetrators to justice. In addition, it urged the Nigerian government to strengthen security across affected communities to protect lives and prevent further violence.
The statement reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to working with the Nigerian government and international partners to combat terrorism and violent extremism. It added that every Nigerian should be able to live and practise their faith freely without fear of violence or persecution.
