RSU VC donates N3.5m to strengthen security at Rivers State University after staff members presented the money and £100 as a birthday gift. Instead of keeping the cash, Vice-Chancellor Professor Isaac Zeb-Obipi immediately redirected it to improve safety across the campus.

The University Staff Club honoured its Distinguished Past President during a celebration, praising his leadership and commitment to the institution. Members donated N3.5 million and £100 in cash to mark his birthday.
However, RSU VC donates N3.5m became the day’s defining moment when Professor Zeb-Obipi handed the entire amount to the University’s Chief Security Officer. He instructed that the funds should purchase security materials and equipment to protect lives and property on campus.

The decision won praise from staff and attendees, who described the gesture as a demonstration of selfless leadership and commitment to the university community. RSU VC donates N3.5m to security at a time when campus safety remains a major concern.
