Zenith Bank has assured customers that its banking services remain safe after confirming it is investigating unauthorised access to limited customer information. The Zenith Bank cyberattack investigation follows a wider global cyber incident that has affected several international organisations across different sectors.

In a notice issued to customers, the bank disclosed that the exposed information was limited to email addresses and phone numbers. It stressed that the incident did not affect its core banking systems or digital services and that customers can continue using all banking channels without disruption.

“Zenith Bank is investigating unauthorised access to limited customer information including email addresses and phone numbers. This incident is part of a broader, global cyber-attack targeting multiple international organizations across various sectors,” the notice read.

The bank explained that it immediately activated its incident response procedures after detecting the breach. It said its cybersecurity teams launched appropriate security measures and remediation efforts to contain the situation and strengthen system protection.

“Upon discovery, we promptly activated our incident response protocols, cybersecurity actions and remediation efforts.”

Zenith Bank further reassured customers that its essential banking operations remain fully protected.

“Our banking services and digital channels remain secure and fully operational,” it stated.

As part of the Zenith Bank cyberattack response, the bank advised customers to remain alert to phishing attempts, including fraudulent emails, text messages, and phone calls. It reminded customers never to share sensitive security details such as passwords, Personal Identification Numbers (PINs), One-Time Passwords (OTPs), or any other security credentials with anyone.

The bank reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding customer information and thanked customers for their continued trust and confidence. It also encouraged anyone with concerns or enquiries to contact Zenith Direct through its official customer service channels.
