RIV-10: 500,000 jobs and empowerment opportunities will be created within 365 days if Action Democratic Party (ADP) governorship candidate Angel Lawson wins the Rivers State election.
Mr Lawson said his administration would first focus on security, peace and unity to create conditions for businesses and investors to operate.
He said investors would only commit capital when they trust that their businesses, workers and investments are safe.
Under the proposed plan, his administration would strengthen community-based security and improve intelligence sharing. It would also promote peace and reconciliation across political, ethnic, religious and community lines.
“Rivers State must be united for Rivers State to prosper,” the candidate said.
The RIV-10 programme would also use public-private partnerships to attract investment and expand employment opportunities.
Mr Lawson said the plan would support local entrepreneurs and small businesses while creating opportunities in agriculture, healthcare, technology, infrastructure, energy, water and culture.
He said the RIV-10: 500,000 jobs and empowerment opportunities target would form part of a wider economic plan to move people from poverty towards sustainable livelihoods.
However, achieving the target would require significant private-sector investment and effective implementation. The administration would also need to provide clear timelines, funding arrangements and measurable targets to show how the 500,000 opportunities would be created within one year.
Mr Lawson described his commitment as a four-step approach: secure communities, unite Rivers people, restore investor confidence and grow the economy.
The candidate is campaigning under the Action Democratic Party.
He said the proposed programme would mark the beginning of what he described as a new path towards shared prosperity in Rivers State.
