APC campaign: Lagos House of Assembly Speaker Mudashir Obasa has urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to avoid conflict ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Mr Obasa said party members must maintain peace and unity if the APC is to strengthen its position in Lagos.
He made the appeal on Wednesday while flagging off the APC campaign in the Agege Federal Constituency.
The Speaker warned that internal disagreements could weaken the party and affect its preparations for the elections.
He urged members to focus on the party’s objectives instead of engaging in disputes.
Mr Obasa also acknowledged that political parties would always face criticism and opposition from some individuals.
However, he advised APC members not to allow what he described as “detractors” to distract them from their political activities.
The Speaker said the party could face setbacks if its members allowed disagreements to grow into open conflict.
The APC campaign in Agege comes as political parties begin preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Although the election is still ahead, parties are already working to strengthen their structures, mobilise supporters and resolve internal differences.
In Lagos, the APC has maintained a strong political presence over several election cycles. The party will therefore face the task of keeping its members united as preparations for 2027 continue.
Mr Obasa’s appeal centres on internal discipline and cooperation among party members.
He said members should work together and avoid actions that could create divisions within the party.
The call for unity also comes against the wider backdrop of political competition expected to intensify as the 2027 elections approach.
For the APC, managing disagreements among its members could become an important part of its preparations.
Mr Obasa therefore called on members to remain focused and avoid conflicts that could undermine the party’s activities.
He said peace within the party would help members concentrate on mobilising support and preparing for the elections.
The APC campaign in Agege marks another step in the party’s mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 polls.
As political activities increase, internal party cohesion is likely to remain an important issue for political organisations across the country.
