INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, announced the figure at a World Press Conference and National Stakeholders Meeting in Abuja on Tuesday.

He said the three phases of the CVR exercise produced 10,772,421 new registrations.

INEC reached the figure after completing its Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) exercise, which it used to clean and verify the voter register.

According to Professor Amupitan, the latest figures put Nigeria’s registered voter population at 103 million.

He said this makes Nigeria the largest democracy in Africa by the number of registered voters.

The National Register of Voters hits 103 million after the electoral commission completed the biometric cleanup of registrations recorded during the CVR exercise.

INEC also released figures showing the states with the highest number of registered voters.

Lagos State ranks first with 7,488,633 registered voters. Kano State follows with 6,570,276 voters.

Kaduna State ranks third with 4,662,640 registered voters.

The figures give Lagos, Kano and Kaduna the largest voter populations among the states listed by the commission.

Meanwhile, INEC said the completion of the registration and biometric verification process had produced an updated national voter register.

The commission has continued to use biometric systems to identify duplicate or questionable registrations and improve the accuracy of the register.

The latest announcement therefore provides a new figure for Nigeria’s registered voter population following the conclusion of the CVR process.

The National Register of Voters hits 103 million as INEC moves forward with preparations for future elections.
