A 49-YEAR-OLD MAN IS REMANDED BY A LAGOS COURT AFTER STABBING HIS WIFE TO DEATH OVER SACHET WATER.

Lawrence Itakpe, 49, was remanded in custody by a magistrates’ court in Yaba, Lagos, for stabbing his wife to death in the state’s Ajah region. It was learned that on Monday, December 5, 2022, the defendant k#lled his 47-year-old wife Rebecca at their residence.

Itakpe is alleged to have rushed into their kitchen during the argument over sachet water, returned with a knife, and then stabbed his wife. The couple had been married for 11 years and had two children.

Rebecca was said to have died as a result of the defendant repeatedly stabbing her in the chest and neck. Itakpe was charged with one count of murder, a crime punishable by Section 233 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015, according to police prosecutor Inspector Haruna Magaji.
