Douye Diri, the PDP candidate and governor of Bayelsa State, received a Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday.

The state gubernatorial election held on November 11, 2023, was won by Diri.

While Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Diri’s closest opponent, won two local government areas, Diri won six to secure reelection.

With 175,196 votes overall, the PDP candidate for governor defeated Sylva, who received 110,108 votes.

Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Diri’s running mate and the deputy governor of Bayelsa State, also got his certificate of return.

At the Prof. Mahmood Yakubu Media Centre INEC state headquarters in Yenagoa, the certificates of return were given to Diri and Ewhrudjakpo by May Agbamuche-Mbu, the INEC national commissioner overseeing Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Bayelsa.

In the meantime, Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo, received a Certificate of Return from INEC.

According to what Naija News believes, Uzodinma received the certificate on November 11, 2023, the day the electoral authority proclaimed him the victor of the Imo governorship race.

APC chieftains were among the dignitaries in attendance at the Friday ceremony hosted at the Rockview Hotel in Owerri.

Having garnered the most votes during the election, Uzodinma was re-elected for a further four years.
