A NEW DEVELOPMENT REGARDING MOHBAD’S AUTOPSY RESULTS

Dr. Richard Somiari, the director of the Lagos State DNA and Forensic Center, has revealed that the results of the autopsy performed on the remains of the late Nigerian musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad, will be available in three to four weeks.

In her testimony on Wednesday at the coroner’s inquiry investigating the singer’s death, Somiari revealed a clue.
Remember that Mohbad passed away at the age of 27 on September 12, 2023.

Due to the controversy surrounding his murder both domestically and internationally, the Lagos State Government ordered a coroner’s inquest into the death.

The inquest is being held at the Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court and started on October 13, 2023.

As there was no specific cause given, Somiari—who the defence team cross-examined during the inquest—told Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi, the coroner, that the Forensic Center looked into a number of possibilities if the singer died from poisoning.

The public was further reassured by the forensic specialist on sufficient security and sample monitoring for the autopsy.

He said, “We expected to get the first set of autopsy results in three to four weeks and re-confirm to authenticate the cause of the death.

“We searched for multiple possibilities, to check if poison was involved in the death of Mohbad since no actual cause was mentioned.

“We have a place where items are stored for safety and security of results. There is a procedure for monitoring samples moved abroad.”
