Babatunji Wusu –
Paul Enenche, Senior Pastor of the Dunamis International Gospel Centre, has been to the site of the destroyed church in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State.
Wednesday’s visit by Mr. Enenche and his wife Becky Paul-Enenche to the scene.
The Enenches visited the Mission Ward on the North Bank, where a collapsed structure was located, and they prayed with the crowd that had assembled to greet them.
Five pastors were leading midnight prayers when the church collapsed at around two in the morning on Tuesday, and one of them died in the incident, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
After the prayers, Mr. Enenche spoke with the media and stated that the church always used due diligence in all they did, including building development.
He expressed concern that the same church, which was packed to capacity for seven hours on Sunday for prayers and worship, would suddenly collapse when five people were praying inside. He said that there was every reason to praise God for his miracle.
“As a ministry, we practice due diligence when it comes to our facilities, and we have demonstrated this in a number of ways.
He said, “We trust God this will be prevented in the future. We feel that moving forward, we will look into more specifics, the protocols and everything, even technical issues.
In addition to saying that he would be missed by his immediate family, the church, and the entire state, he praised the late pastor as a devout servant of God who had served God with dedication his entire life.
He asserted that God had all the solutions and promised to expose the cause of the church’s demise in due time.
He prayed to God to give the Dunamis International Gospel Church as a whole, the branch, and the pastor’s immediate family the strength to endure the loss.
Bartholomew Onyeka, the commissioner of police in Benue, confirmed to journalists on Monday that the deceased pastor and the other four people were praying when the tragedy happened.
He added that the hospital treatment was having an effect on the four other injured pastors.
