Babatunji Wusu –

Hadi Sirika, former Minister of Aviation, appeared in court on Thursday, May 9, to face six-count revised charges totaling two point seven billion Naira levied against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

As previously reported, the EFCC brought Sirika to court on charges of abuse of power and fraudulent contracts issued during his term.

Sirika, who worked under former President Muhammadu Buhari, was arraigned on Thursday before Justice Sylvanus Oriji of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Maitama, on a six-count amended charge alongside three others: his daughter, Fatima; Jalal Hamma; and Al-Duraq Investment Limited.

The ill-fated and controversial Nigeria Air project was “executed” during his tenure.

Sirika and the other defendants are accused of misusing their positions and conspiring to commit fraud totaling N2.7 billion.
