Babatunji Wusu –

Oba Festus Oluwole Makinde, a renowned Yoruba traditional ruler, is said to have died.

The Onigbein of Igbeinland died on Tuesday at the age of 85 in the Mowe community of Ogun State’s Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.

According to an insider, the palace grounds, which also serve as the Mowe community NYSC sub-office in the local government, had a solemn tone as residents gathered to pay their respects to the monarch.

“We barely got our CDS weekly meetings in today and have been told there won’t be any more this week.” “We found out this morning that the king died yesterday,” said an unidentified National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member to The PUNCH.

A registry of condolences has also been set up at the palace’s entrance. As a result of the event, the Local Government Inspector for the NYSC Mowe sub-office, Oluyemisi Disu, has rescheduled the corps members’ monthly clearance.

The Corper’s Liaison Officer, Isah Abiodun, issued the following statement to the media house: “As a result of traditional rites of passage and respect for the monarch, who recently joined his ancestors, there will be no Community Development Service group meeting tomorrow, Thursday, November 16, 2023.” In addition, the office will be closed until Monday, November 20, 2023.
