A South Korean football player has been detained by the Liaoning province public security department and is under suspicion of accepting payments from non-state employees, according to China’s foreign ministry on Tuesday.

According to ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin, China is a country that upholds the rule of law and handles pertinent issues in line with the law.

According to a Korean diplomatic source, the South Korean player Son Jun-ho is currently being taken in police custody in northeast China in relation to a bribery issue.
