Abia South Senator, Eyinnaya Abaribe, has defected from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Abaribe announced his decision on Wednesday in Enugu, shortly after former Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, formally joined the ADC.
The senator, who moved to APGA in 2023 to contest the Abia South senatorial seat, said he has now fully aligned with the ADC, describing Obi as his political leader.
Declaring his resignation from APGA, Abaribe said his decision was informed by his loyalty to Obi and his belief in the ADC’s political direction.
“As of now, I am fully in ADC. Following my brother and our leader, Mr Peter Obi, I wish all of us well, and I know that we’re going to get there,” he said.
