- Public Urged to Report Police Misconduct for Accountability
The Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, has disbanded the Police Command’s Anti-Cultism Unit over allegations of unprofessional behavior towards civilians.
This decision was confirmed in a statement issued in Umuahia by the Command’s spokesperson, ASP Maureen Chinaka, on behalf of the Commissioner. According to the statement, the move aligns with the Inspector General of Police’s vision for a professional, service-oriented, and law-abiding Police Force that fosters public trust.
In a related development, F/No: 527324 Corporal Okonkwo Ebuka, formerly attached to the Area Command, Aba, but serving on special duty in Isuochi, has been demoted to the rank of Constable. His demotion followed a disciplinary trial in an orderly room where he was found guilty of misconduct, including incivility to members of the public.
CP Danladi Isa reaffirmed the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on unprofessionalism, stating that officers must uphold the integrity of the Force.
The public is encouraged to report cases of misconduct to the Abia Police Command’s Complaint Response Unit via 09031593827. This initiative aims to ensure accountability and enhance the relationship between the Police and the communities they serve.
