The Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the clear victor in all 21 local government chairmanship races and 239 councillorship positions in the election held on Saturday.
KOSIEC Chairman, Mr. Mamman Nda-Eri, announced the results in Lokoja, calling the election peaceful, free, and fair. He highlighted that the APC secured all available seats, defeating candidates from the other 18 political parties that participated.
Among the winners is a woman who triumphed in the Ogori-Magongo Local Government Area, securing a chairmanship seat.
“The APC dominated, winning all the chairmanship and councillorship seats without leaving any for the opposition parties. The results were initially declared at the collation centers by the respective Returning Officers,” Nda-Eri said.
He affirmed the earlier results and expressed gratitude to electoral officials, security agencies, observers, and journalists for their roles in ensuring the smooth conduct of the election.
