According to reports, the victims’ killers killed them as a stark warning to their relatives who were negotiating a ransom payment.
Vanguard claims that after some of the kidnapped victims were killed, the kidnappers raised their demands from N60 million to N100 million per victim, for a total of N700 million.
Police Discuss Upcoming Rescue
On the other hand, Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector General of Police, stated that the police had already started a thorough plan of action to save the victims.
All hands were on deck to rescue the casualties, he added, and the force headquarters was carefully coordinating measures to rectify this and prevent any such instances.
The sensitivity of the situation required prudence, according to a statement released by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi. As a result, precise information are being kept private to prevent jeopardizing ongoing activities.
“The NPF is actively engaging and contacting individuals crucial to the rescue operations and investigation. The objective is not only to bring perpetrators to justice but also to intensify efforts in rescue operations for victims still in captivity,” he said.
