Pastor Peter Obayuwana, the Accord Party’s governorship candidate in Lagos State, has promised to overhaul the state’s economy if elected.
In a statement, Obayuwana urged Lagosians to cast their ballots for him.
“Just like our party’s name suggests, if we can join together and I receive your vote to become your governor, with my skill, the quality of my team, and my experience… I promise to deliver leadership that will address your needs, restructure Lagos’ economy, and restore the greatness for which this lovely state is recognized.”
According to him, Nigerians wake up on January 1st energized, ready to tackle a fresh agenda as part of a new year resolve.
“For this reason, I would ladvise Nigerians and Lagosians not to make this year about resolutions, but about essential necessities of their existence.
“We need water, power, food, shelter, good transportation, security and a government that cares for people.
“To borrow from President Muhammadu Buhari’s comments, I believe Lagos’ leadership did its best. “It is up to us to determine whether “this best” deserves another four-year term in a state plagued by instability, corruption, and other difficult issues,” he stated.
This year, he says, is not a year for wishes, but rather for action. It is a watershed moment, and what you do isn’t as important as how you do it. It is not a year for populist views, but rather one for contemplation”.

What have you done as a candidate? What are your plans? Who will you vote for as a citizen? This is the year to ask yourself difficult, emotionless questions.
“Make 2023 the year of the leap year. Not according to the Julian calendar, but according to the reform program. Make a bold move. Vote for a candidate who is out of the ordinary.
“Like you, I am a Nigerian, a Lagosian, and I am deeply affected by the constant price increases and mounting, yet subtle insecurity in our cosmopolitan city of Lagos. I understand people’s needs and can connect with your pain.”
