Following the untimely passing of Mr. Jacob Ogunmola, the Accord party’s candidate for the House of Representatives in the federal district of Atisbo, Saki East, and Saki West, Oyo State was plunged into sorrow on Monday.
According to a press release from Mr. Bolaji Tunji, Director of Media for the Bayo Adelabu Campaign Organization (BACO), Ogunmola passed away on Sunday night after complaining only of a slight chest ache.
Chief Bayo Adelabu, who is still in shock at the tragedy, has demanded a seven-day stoppage of all consultations and campaign activities.
The statement reads: “Me and our team members were completely shocked by this. Adelabu bemoaned, “He was with us during our many consultations to Oke Ogun and other parts of the State and he looked pretty okay. I don’t want to wake up from this dream.
I have ordered a seven-day period of mourning, during which the flag at the BACO office in Jericho, Ibadan, would likewise be flown at half-mast.
“My sincere sympathies are sent to his wife, children, other family members, the Accord party in Oke Ogun, Oyo State, and Nigeria on the passing of this kind and modest man. May the All-Powerful God offer his soul rest and tranquility, Adelabu prayed.
The Accord governor candidate urged supporters to keep praying for Ogunmola’s soul to rest in peace.
“They ought to keep up the reputation for peace that the Accord party has established. The only way to prove that Ogunmola’s labor of love was not in vain is for us to work hard and win the governorship election and all other elective seats, he said.
In response to Ogunmola’s passing, Chief Adegboyega Adegoke, Director-General of the Adebayo Adelabu Campaign Organization, said he was still in a state of shock over the loss of the incredibly lively party candidate who had been one of the most active party members in the state.
“He participated actively in our numerous consultations, and we were optimistic about his chances in the upcoming election. Really, this is quite unfortunate,” he remarked.
Ogunmola served as the interim chairman of the Atisbo Local Government under the administration of the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
Additionally, he established the Jacob Ogunmola Foundation, which has assisted thousands of individuals through empowerment and skill-building initiatives.
