Tunji Wusu –
To expedite the construction of Nigeria’s highways, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, on Tuesday, announced night construction. Mr. Umahi made this statement while touring project locations in Lagos and Ogun.
During the tour, he stated that the repair and reconstruction of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway were 98% complete and will be opened in the middle of September.
The minister stated that more auxiliary work on the project, including as interchanges and underpasses, will continue as he sought the Ogun government’s assistance in paying compensation for Right of Way recovery.
He was joined by the former Gbenga Daniel as they inspected section two of the Lagos–Ibadan road. The government, according to Mr. Umahi, would hire consultants to concession and toll all federal roadways in the six geopolitical zones.
