On Monday, the Federal Ministry of Works allayed concerns regarding the Dorman-long Bridge by stating that it is in good shape and completely safe for usage.

The Federal Ministry of Works has been alerted to a video regarding the bridge that is becoming viral on social media, according to a statement from the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Engr (Mrs) Olukorede Kesha.

According to the video, which connects Ikorodu Road to Western Avenue (Jibowu-Ojuelegba), a piece of the Dorman-long Bridge is in bad condition and needs immediate maintenance, according to Kesha.

In response, she said, “On Monday, September 18, 2023, the Lagos State Field Headquarters Engineers under the direction of the Federal Controller of Works of the Ministry inspected the bridge to ascertain the accuracy of this claim.”

The bridge bearings at that point and all other sites along the bridge were observed to be in healthy and serviceable states, which led to the discovery that this segment of the bridge is in good shape.

Only a small section of the parapet wall was found to be damaged, and this has no impact on the bridge’s structural soundness.

In order to accomplish this, the Federal Ministry of Works has made it known to the public that the Dorman-long bridge is in good shape and suitable for usage.

The general public should now feel at ease and be able to continue using the bridge with confidence, Kesha added.
