Tunji Wusu –
The 104 APC Non-serving Senators Group, a group of former senators, has praised President Bola Tinubu in his efforts to lead the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) toward greater regional integration, socioeconomic success, and peace.
They stated that Tinubu’s recent election as the head of ECOWAS was evidence of his “exceptional leadership skills, diplomatic acumen, and unwavering commitment to regional development.”
At the 63rd Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government on Sunday in Bissau, the capital of Guinea-Bissau, Tinubu was elected as the leader of ECOWAS.
Umaro Mokhtar Sissoco Embalo, the outgoing president of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, was succeeded by him.
Since being sworn in on May 29, the summit marked Tinubu’s first international appearance on the African continent.
Basheer Lado, the convener of the 104 APC Non-Serving Senators Group, issued a statement congratulating the President.
It was a historic accomplishment, the organisation stated, and it was “delighted to extend its heartfelt congratulations to President Tinubu on his momentous election” to lead the West African organization.
The statement read: “As All Progressives Congress (APC) members, we take great satisfaction in President Tinubu’s appointment to this prestigious post.
“We fully think that his extensive experience and visionary approach will lead ECOWAS to higher levels of regional integration, socioeconomic development, and peace.
“President Tinubu is the perfect option to lead ECOWAS during these critical times because of his excellent governance record and unwavering dedication to good governance.
Because of his significant experience in politics, both at the national and international levels, he will be able to address the region’s problems and fully realize its enormous potential.
The ex-lawmakers expressed optimism that, under Tinubu’s direction, ECOWAS will promote deeper relations among its member states and further improve economic cooperation.
His “unwavering dedication to upholding democratic principles, human rights, and the rule of law” was lauded, and it was stated that this will unquestionably strengthen ECOWAS’s position as a leader in regional stability and development.
We have total confidence that he will diligently fight to advance Nigeria’s interests and the overall welfare of the ECOWAS region, leveraging his broad network and solid ties with regional leaders to accomplish shared goals, the group continued.
“We urge all regional players to support President Tinubu in his effort to create a successful, tranquil, and united West Africa.
“Let’s work together to advance communication, collaboration, and sustainable development across the ECOWAS Community.
“May his term be characterized by outstanding successes, ushering in a more promising and prosperous future for the entire West African region.”
