The majority of the nation’s roadways have reached their expiration dates, according to Nurudeen Rafindadi, the managing director and chief executive officer of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA).

We are currently maintaining our outdated highways that were only intended to be designed to survive for a maximum of 25 years and were instead built more than 50 years ago. Planning is necessary to come up with a strategy for keeping our roads in good condition.

Despite the obvious advantages of highway construction for Nigeria’s socioeconomic and political prosperity and its enormous capital expenditure, the sector nevertheless faces a number of managerial and operational difficulties.
