The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has urged Corps members to uphold the law and display excellent moral character, warning them that the Scheme does not grant them immunity from legal repercussions and misbehavior.

In a speech given at the conclusion of the orientation course for the 2022 Batch “C” Stream II Corps Members deployed to Imo State, held at the permanent orientation camp, Eziama Obaire in the State’s Nkwerre local government area, Acting Director-General of the NYSC, Mrs. Christy Uba, made this statement.

She encouraged Corps members to demonstrate commitment, dedication, and responsibility and urged them to be good ambassadors of the Scheme, their respective families, and their institutions of graduation. She was represented by the Scheme’s Coordinator in Imo State, Mrs. Rachael Idaewor.

She also counseled them to engage in individual and group Community Development Service (CDS) initiatives that would raise the level of living for residents of their host areas.

“I urge you to embrace objective mentoring since it is the way forward and brings out the best in corps members.

“Permit me to further remind your beloved corps members that the Scheme does not grant its members immunity from legal repercussions and misconduct. You must always uphold the law and behave honorably.

The plan is in contact with security authorities and other crucial partners with a view to providing your essential needs in any given service year, she said. “Management remains dedicated to making necessary measures for the safety and security of all corps members.”
