The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been accused by the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organization of attempting to further the sense of hopelessness that Nigerians have allegedly come to feel under the current administration by putting forth an action plan that will result in more suffering.
The spokesperson for the campaign organization, Charles Aniagwu, stated at a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday that the PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, provides a better alternative to revive what he perceived as a falling Nigeria. Aniagwu was speaking about the plan of action dubbed “Renewed Hope,” which was recently launched by the presidential candidate of the ruling party, Bola Tinubu.
He said that the former vice president was taking part in bilateral and international initiatives, as demonstrated by his most recent visit to the US to engage with groups and individuals with problem-solving expertise.
He claimed that Atiku went to the United States as part of his mission to restore Nigeria, not to demonstrate his eligibility for entry.
Dele Momodu, the campaign’s Director of Strategic Communications, also addressed the news conference and stated that the PDP presidential candidate is concerned about the state of the Nigerian economy and the hardship brought on by the floods in the nation.
“Our candidate is deeply worried about the cost of living crisis, which is being made worse every day by the hyperinflation imposed on Nigerians by the APC regime,” Momodu added. We are reassuring Nigerians that assistance is on the way, however, as the policies outlined in the policy document “Our Covenant with Nigerians” will not only help Nigeria emerge from poverty but also usher in a period of prosperity and sustainable development under a PDP administration starting in 2023.
The PDP Recovery Agenda’s main focus continues to be the economy and the “Kitchen Table Issues,” as the Americans will put it.
“The PDP and our presidential flagbearers are concerned about the country’s ongoing insecurity. Even if the government dismissed the recent security alert by several foreign embassies and missions in Nigeria as unfounded, it serves as a reminder of the dangerous environment we are in right now.
“We urge Nigerians to exercise vigilance and urge security agencies to be at the top of their game in order to prevent any of the terrifying eventualities outlined in the security advisory from happening.
“The Central Bank of Nigeria’s announcement last week that it will alter various naira denominations elicited a range of responses from Nigerians. Since the announcement, the value of the naira has already fallen precipitously, and more has to be done to reverse this trend. The economy, which is currently in shambles, can hardly sustain any more devaluation of the naira.
“Last Friday, our principal traveled to the US, where he met with representatives from the US Department of State. The purpose of the trip was to deepen bilateral ties with the United States in the areas of the economy, eradicating poverty, and combating insecurity.
“The Central Bank of Nigeria’s announcement last week that it will alter various naira denominations elicited a range of responses from Nigerians. Since the announcement, the value of the naira has already fallen precipitously, and more has to be done to reverse this trend.
