The All Progressives Congress (APC) branch in Adamawa has overturned Comrade Mustapha Salihu’s “suspension” as the party’s vice chairman for the North East.
Salihu was declared suspended from the APC on Sunday by the Rumde ward exco due to alleged anti-party conduct.
In its countermove, the State Exco of the party, according to a statement on Monday morning, pronounced the “suspension” null and void.
The party’s State Working Committee (SWC) declared that Salihu’s alleged suspension was unlawful in the statement.
Dr. Raymond Chidama, the secretary of the Adamawa APC, claimed that nameless individuals were being utilized by the opposition to harm the chances of the APC winning the upcoming elections.
He asked party members to ignore the suspension of Salihu’s announcement in the press.
Before the Rumde ward exco voted to remove Salihu from office, they suspended Abdulkadir Abdullahi, the ward chairman, who had reportedly objected to the idea of removing the vice chairman of the Northeast zonal committee from office.
The state party scribe claimed that the “party crashers'” suspension of the Rumde ward party chairman was absurd and that their “interloping attitude” was unconstitutional and ineffective.
The troubled Rumde ward chairman vowed allegiance to Salihu, called his suspension intolerable, and emphasized that he still served as the APC’s Rumde Ward chairman.
