Adamawa State community markets: Fintiri approves new markets across 21 LGAs

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has approved the establishment of Adamawa State community markets across all 21 local government areas as part of efforts to boost commercial activities.

The new markets will operate alongside existing markets in the state.

Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta announced the decision on Wednesday while inspecting a proposed market site in Numan Local Government Area.

She said the government wanted the new markets to create more organised spaces where individuals and companies could conduct business.

According to Professor Farauta, the Adamawa State community markets will provide central locations for commercial activities in the various local government areas.

The deputy governor said the initiative would help businesses operate and grow within their communities.

The government has not yet announced when construction of all the proposed markets will begin or provided details of the funding arrangements.

However, the decision places commercial infrastructure at the centre of the state government’s plans for local economic activity.

In Numan, Farauta inspected the proposed site as the government begins to consider how the policy will take shape at the local level.

The plan covers all 21 LGAs, meaning each local government area is expected to have a new community market in addition to markets already operating there.

The policy could also give traders and companies more centralised spaces for their activities.

For residents, the success of the Adamawa State community markets will depend on how quickly the government implements the plan and how effectively the facilities are managed once established.

For now, the state government says the main objective is to strengthen commercial activities and provide businesses with spaces where they can operate and expand.
