The Nafiu Bala Gombe–led faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has urged Nigerians and the international community to dismiss the so-called “new party headquarters” unveiled by a faction loyal to former Senate President David Mark.

In a statement issued on Monday, Gombe condemned the action as a blatant and illegal attempt to hijack the party’s leadership, insisting the ADC’s values remain rooted in democracy, integrity, and the rule of law.

He asserted that the David Mark group lacks the constitutional, moral and legal authority to speak for the party, describing it as an “aggrieved splinter group” operating outside established structures.

“The authentic National Working Committee, duly recognized by the party’s constitution and its majority organs, states categorically that the faction is illegitimate,” the statement read. Gombe argued that the group’s actions stem from its failed attempt to manipulate internal democratic processes for personal gain.

He added that the purported “new headquarters” is unauthorized, insisting the building is merely a private facility falsely presented as the party’s secretariat.

Gombe further criticized the move as a desperate, anti-democratic ploy designed to confuse the public and violate the ADC constitution. He called on Nigerians, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and the media to recognize only directives issued from the authentic ADC National Secretariat.

Reaffirming the party’s commitment to credible leadership, Gombe said the ADC remains focused on offering Nigerians a viable political alternative. He noted that the party is pursuing all legal channels to address the matter and sanction those involved.

“The ADC remains committed to rescuing and rebuilding Nigeria for the benefit of all citizens,” he added.
