The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has released footage from a July 2025 event at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, showing Nafiu Bala attending the unveiling of David Mark as the party’s interim national chairman.
The video shows representatives from INEC present at the event, with Bala seated near prominent figures, including Senator Ishaku Abbo.
Bala has been asserting claims to the party’s leadership, following the circulation of an alleged resignation letter purportedly written by him. The letter, dated May 18, 2025, indicated Bala’s resignation as Deputy National Chairman (North-East), effective May 26, 2025. In the letter, he explained that the decision was meant to allow for “a smooth and effective coalition and restructuring” within the party.
The footage, shared by ADC Vanguard, was captioned: “ADC releases video where Nafiu Bala was sighted at David Mark leadership unveiling after he tendered his resignation. The @inecnigeria representatives were also present at the event.”
The release has triggered reactions on social media, especially after INEC recently delisted both Mark and Rauf Aregbesola to enforce a court order restoring the pre-July 2025 leadership structure.
On X, user @JADEWORLD commented: “@inecnigeria With this evidence, it is clear you are no longer a non-partisan body. It is absolutely embarrassing that INEC has been reduced to APC’s agent of confusion and destruction.”
