The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take urgent and decisive action against the rising wave of terrorism in Nigeria, warning that failure to do so could attract international intervention.

Speaking after the November Holy Ghost Service of the church, themed “The Eve of Glory,” Adeboye advised the President to give security chiefs a 90-day ultimatum to wipe out terrorist groups or tender their resignation.

The revered cleric, who expressed deep concern over Nigeria’s worsening security situation, also called on the Federal Government to act with diplomacy and wisdom in addressing recent remarks made by United States President Donald Trump about Nigeria’s security crisis.

According to him, Tinubu should use diplomatic channels to appeal for a 100-day grace period before any action is taken by the U.S., insisting that such a window should be used to completely eliminate terrorism from the country.

“If I were asked to make suggestions, I would say to our government: move fast, move diplomatically, move wisely. Find a way to convince the President of America to delay his actions for about 100 days. Then come home and tell our security chiefs to get rid of these terrorists within 90 days or resign,” he said.

Adeboye revealed that he had given similar advice to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, who at the time issued a 90-day order to security agencies to tackle insecurity but failed to follow through.

“There was a president, unfortunately he’s dead now, Buhari, who issued such an order. He is not here to tell you who gave him that advice. He acted on it but didn’t follow through. Three months passed and the work was not done,” Adeboye stated.

He further urged the Tinubu administration to expose and prosecute the sponsors of terrorism, regardless of their social or political influence.

The RCCG leader warned that Nigeria should not depend on external powers for rescue, noting that while world powers may condemn any possible U.S. military intervention, none would come to Nigeria’s defense.

“When I say our leaders should move fast, diplomatically, and wisely, it’s because if America attacks us, China, Russia, and other world powers will condemn it strongly but that’s all they’ll do. Britain won’t come to help us. No foreign power will,” he said.

Adeboye emphasised that the fight against terrorism should transcend religious or ethnic sentiments, stressing that innocent Nigerians are being killed daily.

“This is not the time for jokes, grammar, or arguments. It’s not about Christians or Muslims  innocent people are dying,” he added.

The cleric’s remarks come amid growing international attention on Nigeria’s insecurity, following President Trump’s recent comments suggesting possible U.S. action if the Nigerian government fails to curb terrorism and protect its citizens.
