In his inaugural address as the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate for governor on Friday, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu said he is on a mission to free the people of the state from “endemic poverty, young unemployment, inadequate social services,” among other things.

Adebutu made the statement on Friday while speaking to PDP supporters who had gathered in Abeokuta, the state capital, in large numbers for the party’s gubernatorial campaign rally.

Adebutu praised the Nigerian judiciary for upholding the rules of the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s Constitution and the electoral law while speaking at the rally, which took place at the arcade ground of the Alake palace in Abeokuta. Adebutu recalled the setbacks and legal disputes that at first greeted his emergence as the party’s true flag bearer.

As he unveiled his manifestos, the PDP governorship candidate, who identified himself as a harbinger of relief, promised to “eliminate hardship” and offer long-term assistance for the state’s residents through a set of seven key initiatives.

Adebutu listed a few of these, including: “Improved Security, Law and Order. Authentic local government autonomy, public service reforms, and worker welfare Physical planning, transportation, and urban regional development Improvement of youth and sports, agricultural and economic development of women, education, healthcare, and other social services in rural and border communities.

“Today, we are here to formally declare our readiness as a party, to take over power on the way to good governance in May 2023. We recognize that this process cannot be easy and it is because it is difficult, we have chosen to walk this path to achieve victory in the general elections of 2023”.

The PDP governorship candidate criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC), which is now in power in the state, for what he called its “inability to be present for the people it rules with supply of basic social amenities, particularly at the lower tier of government.”

“In our effort to better serve the people of our beloved state, we performed an impartial survey to ascertain their requirements. The results of the survey are disturbing, and as a matter of fact, an immediate rescue mission is required.
