Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke says if Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is elected president on February 25, he will reduce the state’s massive debt.
Governor Adeleke stated this on Wednesday during a rally in Okesa, Ilesa East.
“You must vote for all PDP candidates because these are the people who will work with me to deliver good governance. “Atiku has whispered in my ear that he will assist us in repaying the N402 billion debt incurred by the APC administration in the state,” he said.
He thanked the people of Ilesa for their support of his governorship ambition.
“I commend you for standing with me without fear during the governorship election. I can assure you that our 100-day agenda has begun, and that we will give the state a facelift across the zones.”
As a result, the governor presented the PDP flag to the party’s senatorial candidate in Osun East, Francis Fadahunsi.
Mr Fadahunsi urged voters in the district not to be afraid of violence and to turn out on election day to vote for all PDP candidates.
Rauf Aregbesola, the Minister of Interior and former governor of the state, is from Ilesa.
Mr Aregbesola’s feud with his successor, Gboyega Oyetola, is influencing political activities in Ilesa.
In recent weeks, both the western and eastern parts of Ilesa have seen violence and vandalism of All Progressives Congress campaign posters and billboards (APC).
Some suspected political thugs have also stormed the Tinubu/Shettima campaign office in the vicinity.
Remi Omowaiye, a former Commissioner of Works and Transportation and an APC member, was also attacked when he went to the Isida market in Ilesa to celebrate Christmas and New Year with the traders.
The police in the state had invited some of the PDP members who were allegedly behind the attacks, but no suspects have been prosecuted.
