In an effort to please their home crowd, the Super Eagles entered the game with the anticipated vigor and passion.
Early on, the in-form Victor Osimhen was given two chances, but he missed both of them. Right up until Guinea-Bissau took the lead against the flow of play in the 29th minute, Nigeria kept up the pressure and appeared more likely to score.
