Ezekiel Mary Ogechi, a recent graduate of Abia State Polytechnic in Aba, was crushed by a speeding tanker on Tuesday in front of the university.
The deceased was pursuing academic clearance at the Polytechnic to get ready for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program. She studied accounting.
Ogechi was rumored to have excelled in accounting and to have won a post-graduate scholarship from a company.
But the terrible event happened after she crossed the street and completed the clearance; a trike struck her before a moving truck crushed her.
After Ogechi was discovered laying beneath the truck, irate Polytechnic students organized a demonstration, a source told DAILY POST.
The source said, “Unfortunately, she was hit by a tricycle while trying to cross to the other side of the road; before she could get up, she was then crushed by a fast moving truck.
“The management of the Abia State Polytechnic and the Students Union Government of the institution saved the day as the angry students were begged to calm down.”
Meanwhile, as of the time of this report, the Polytechnic management and spokesperson of Abia State Police Command, ASP Maureen Chinaka, are yet to issue a statement on the incident.
