AFTER FINDING N2M IN THE EVANGELIST’S ACCOUNT, A PAINTER WAS GIVEN A DEATH SENTENCE FOR THE MURDER.

Olaniyi Abegunde, a 37-year-old painter, has been given the death penalty by hanging for the murder of Grace Ajibola, a 69-year-old woman, in Oyo State.

In her house on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, the late Ajibola, an evangelist of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke Imole, Agbeni, Ibadan, was murdered only weeks before her 70th birthday.

On Thursday, March 16, 2023, Olaniyi was found guilty of the two counts of armed robbery and murder and was sentenced on the two charges by Judge K. B. Olawoyin of the Oyo State High Court 3, sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan.

In his ruling, Judge Olawoyin informed the attorneys that there was no need for allocates from them because the charges involved serious offenses.

And he had given Olaniyi “death by hanging by the neck till death or by lethal injection” on each count charge.
