At the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, agents of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) seized a shipment of 11.90 kilograms of heroin and 500 grams of skunk that were hidden in deep freezers.

The deep freezers were a part of a shipment that came from South Africa on Tuesday, March 7, via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, aboard an Ethiopian aircraft.

Femi Babafemi, a spokesman for the NDLEA, said in a statement on Sunday, March 12, that the Agency’s sniffer dogs were dispatched to find where the illegal drugs were hidden in the cargo and they quickly found the cartons stored in the deep freezers.

“A truck driver and a total of four suspects who actively participated in the movement of the drugs have been detained thus far in connection with the seizure. Oluwaseun Ogunmene, Dairo Quam, Adeleke Abdulrasaq, Bamidele Adewale, and Oluwafemi Ogunmeru are among them, he added.
