The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has been proclaimed the victor of the state’s March 18 governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The announcement was delivered early on Monday, March 20, by Professor Adenike Oladeji, the returning officer for the governorship and house of assembly elections in Lagos State.

Sanwo-Olu received 762,134 votes in total, defeating Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party, who received 312,329 votes, and Olajide “Jandor” Adeniran of the Peoples Democratic Party, who received 62,449 votes. Sanwo-Olu won 19 of of the state’s 20 local government areas.
