Women from the Ipo community in Rivers State staged a dramatic protest on Tuesday morning, effectively blocking the entrance of the Port Harcourt airport and causing significant disruption to travelers. Arriving as early as 7:30 AM, the women assembled at the airport roundabout, where they held up traffic, brandished placards, sang, wailed, and even set up cooking stations at the gate.
The placards and banners they carried bore messages such as ‘We Demand Our Citizens Rights’ and ‘Ipo Women Peaceful Protest’, clearly outlining their grievances and demands. The impassioned demonstration not only drew attention but also led to a build-up of traffic on surrounding roads, complicating travel to and from the airport.
Further details on the protest and its implications are expected to emerge as the situation unfolds.
