|By Adejumo Adekunle – National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has revealed that he and the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, once offered Aisha Yesufu a House of Representatives ticket, but she rejected it.
Dickson made the disclosure during a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja amid growing tensions within the party.
The revelation follows recent internal disagreements involving party members. Earlier, Yesufu criticised Dickson on her verified X account, suggesting that he appeared to be fighting a battle that no one had declared against him.
Responding to issues surrounding the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dickson said he and Obi had approached the activist with an opportunity to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives.
According to him, Yesufu declined the offer despite the intense competition for such political positions.
“Do you know that Peter Obi and I offered Aisha Yesufu a House of Representatives ticket, but she turned it down?” Dickson told party stakeholders.
He added that while many politicians actively seek legislative positions, Yesufu believed the role was not suitable for her.
The Aisha Yesufu House of Representatives Ticket revelation has sparked fresh discussions about the activist’s political ambitions and future role within the opposition movement.
Meanwhile, neither Yesufu nor Obi has publicly responded to Dickson’s latest remarks.
As political observers continue to assess the implications of the disclosure, the Aisha Yesufu House of Representatives Ticket issue is expected to remain a talking point within Nigeria’s political landscape.
The comments also highlight the continuing debates over leadership, representation and political strategy ahead of future elections.
