The Ondo State Election Petitions Tribunal has scheduled June 4, 2025, to deliver judgment in the case challenging the electoral victory of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in last year’s governorship election.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, who won all 18 local government areas in a sweeping victory, is facing legal challenges from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Agboola Ajayi, alongside other parties including the Social Democratic Party and the African Democratic Congress.

During the final hearing, the tribunal chaired by Justice Benson Ogbu listened to the adoption of final written addresses by the parties involved. The petitioners argue that the election was marred by irregularities and violated provisions of the Electoral Act.

In defense, Governor Aiyedatiwa’s legal team, led by Chief Wole Olanipekun, urged the tribunal to dismiss the petitions, citing lack of merit and insufficient evidence of malpractice.

The tribunal will announce its ruling on June 4.
