Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has reaffirmed the southwest governors’ dedication to preserving the Amotekun Corps, often known as the Western Nigeria Security Network.
Following a five-kilometer walk in honor of the late Rotimi Akeredolu, the governor of Ondo State, Amotekun Corps officers from Ekiti, Oyo, Osun, Ogun, and Ondo made this assurance in Akure.
Amotekun has been commended by Governor Aiyedatiwa for its important contribution to the safety and security of residents in the southwest region.
He underlined the corps’ significance and pledged his ongoing support.
The governor, who called Akeredolu’s demise a great loss to the state and the security network, praised the Amotekun commanders for honoring him.
Adetunji Adeleye, the Chairman of the South West Amotekun Commanders and Commander of the Ondo State Security Network, recognized Akeredolu’s enduring contributions, particularly in strengthening regional security.
He reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to carrying on Akeredolu’s efforts and the governors’ unity.
Adeleye and additional commanders, like as retired Col. Olayinka Olayanju from Oyo, emphasized how much security has improved since Amotekun was founded three years ago.
They underlined their commitment to upholding the corps’ continuous operations and carrying out the late governor’s goal.
He said, “We have met all the governors, and all of them have shown their solidarity to the people of Ondo State.
“All the corps commanders travelled from their various states today; that’s the essence of the 5km walk we embarked on today.
“The good work he (Akeredolu) did, mainly in the security system in Southwest, is worth mentioning.
“We all knew what the security situation was before the creation of Amotekun; that’s about three years ago, and we are living testimony of the fact that security in the Southwest has greatly improved.
“We are resolute in continuing the good work that he started. That’s our contribution to immortalising him as our great leader.
Akeredolu was resolute and sincere in making sure that Amotekun Corps became a reality.”
