The Commissioner of Police (CP) in Akwa Ibom State, Joseph Eribo, distributed N88.616 million to the families of 54 deceased officers on Monday. Timfon John, the police spokesperson in Akwa Ibom, confirmed this in a statement issued in Uyo.

During the ceremony at the police headquarters, CP Eribo handed over cheques to representatives of the bereaved families. These payments are part of the Inspector General of Police’s (IGP) family welfare initiatives, including the Group Life Assurance and Group Personal Accident Insurance Scheme.

Eribo emphasized that the welfare of police officers and their families is a top priority for IGP Kayode Egbetokun. He urged the beneficiaries to utilize the funds wisely to support themselves and their families.

“The force extends its condolences to the families of our fallen heroes,” John stated. The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Nigerian police authorities and assured that they would use the funds responsibly.
