Al-Issa Arrives in Abuja for Security Conference

The Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, Mohammed Al-Issa, has arrived in Abuja ahead of an international conference focused on security and national unity.

Al-Issa arrived in Nigeria on Monday with his delegation for the conference, scheduled to take place today at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.

The Saudi delegation received a warm welcome at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport from Information and National Orientation Minister Mohammed Idris, Health and Social Welfare Minister Ali Pate, Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu and other dignitaries.

Jama’atu Izalatil Bidiah wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS Nigeria) is organising the event alongside the Muslim World League of Saudi Arabia. Themed ‘International Conference on Security for Sustainable Socio-economic Development,’ the gathering will bring together religious leaders, government officials, experts and other stakeholders.

Conference Media and Publicity Committee Chairman Garbadeen Mohammad described Al-Issa as a key figure and co-host of the event. He said discussions would extend beyond religious matters to cover socio-economic development, religious inclusivity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence.

“The fact that it is an Islamic-based organisation does not mean that it is strictly for Islamic development. It is for the development of mankind, humanity as a whole,” Mohammed said.

The Abuja security conference will also examine major security challenges, including terrorism, armed banditry and community resilience. Participants are expected to explore practical approaches to building lasting peace and strengthening communities.

The programme will feature plenary sessions, expert discussions and global partnership roundtables aimed at promoting sustainable development.

The Abuja security conference is expected to provide a platform for participants from different backgrounds to exchange ideas and develop partnerships that can support peace, stability and development.
