Due to inclement weather, Al Nassr FC, Cristiano Ronaldo’s new team in Saudi Arabia, was forced to cancel its match against Al Ta’i on Thursday.

“Due to heavy rain and weather circumstances impacting the stadium’s electricity, we have been formally notified that tonight’s match versus Al Ta’i is postponed for 24 hours. “We apologize for any trouble this has caused supporters and wish everyone safe travels,” the team said on Twitter.

Cristiano Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon D’Or winner, joined the Saudi Arabian club after the FIFA World Cup, with his pay reportedly increasing to 200 million euros.

“I’m really proud to have made this significant decision in my life. My work is finished in Europe. I won everything and played for Europe’s most prestigious clubs. “This is a fresh challenge,” Ronaldo declared upon his arrival at the club.

“Nobody knows this, but I had several opportunities in Europe, Brazil, Australia, the U.S., even Portugal, many clubs attempted to recruit me. “I promised this club my word,” Ronaldo added. “I want to present a different picture of this country and football. This is why I took advantage of the situation.”

More to come.
