Early on Monday, October 23, officials from the Lagos Waste Management Authority, working with the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Offenses Unit, closed the Alaba International Market in Ojo.

Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, revealed this on Monday in a post on X.

Wahab claims that the market was closed down as a result of severe environmental sanitation violations, unpaid garbage fees, and inadequate waste disposal procedures.
